Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering here at Sheffield Place.  Volunteers enable Sheffield Place to reach beyond the limits of our staff resources and expand service to homeless mothers and children.  You can help us make a difference in the lives of these 14 families who call Sheffield Place “home.”

Volunteers are needed for a number of roles, including:

  • Children’s Clinical Services/Childcare volunteer – provide childcare for children under 3 years of age and help with activities for children under the age of 12
  • Tutor – help youngsters with school work
  • Office assistance – copying, data entry, and general office responsibilities
  • Field trip planning – plan, attend, and help chaperone educational outings for children
  • Birthday & special events baker – provide homemade baked goods for up to 35 people
  • Fundraising – assist with special events to raise funds for Sheffield Place
  • Community Ambassador – host a home party to inform friends about Sheffield Place
  • Workplace volunteer – encourage fellow employees to support Sheffield Place events

Volunteerism at Sheffield Place is a two step process:

  1. Please print, complete, and return the attached volunteer application to the Office of Development & Marketing.  Because Sheffield Place provides services to children, we are required by law to conduct background checks on all volunteers who come in contact with our clients.  Sheffield Place will provide you with the necessary form once we receive your application.
  2. Attend an orientation meeting specific to your area of interest.  A representative of Sheffield Place will confirm your eligibility to volunteer with our organization and contact you about the status of your application.
