Sheffield Place is a unique program that addresses homelessness from the perspective that it is simply the manifestation of an underlying cause-in other words, homelessness is much more than just a lack of housing. The underlying causes are generally associated with poverty, lack of education, domestic violence, mental illness, and substance abuse.
Sheffield Place helps women achieve their goals by providing:
- Safe affordable housing for up to 24 months.
- Intensive, individually customized case management.
- The 7-Step Empowerment Program built upon each woman's individual needs.
- Independent living classes.
- Individual and group therapy.
- Project HOPE, which provides child development, educational and therapeutic programs for children.
- Long-term solutions focused on teaching families the skills they need to be self-sufficient.
When a family graduates from Sheffield Place, they are ready to take on all of life’s challenges. They will have learned the personal and occupational skills they need to obtain and retain permanent housing, find employment and/or continue and reduce their dependency on welfare.
